From Skid Row to Stratford: Running works
The London Marathon is always an incredibly exciting time for us at The Running Charity but this year our involvement with Judge Mitchell and the Skid Row Marathon Film has seen how universal the impact running can have on the most at risk and in-need people in our society.
Judge Mitchell was over to run the London marathon and promote the UK screenings of the docufilm Skid Row Marathon. During his visit we had the opportunity to meet and go for a run with the members past and present in London.
Speaking with Judge Mitchell it came apparent the desire and commitment he had to support people in need, he was so natural and open with all our members and genuinely cared for their experiences. It is these same qualities we look for when people join The Running Charity team, either as a volunteer and mentor or part of the core delivery team.
It’s has been an honour to be part of the screenings and to have worked with all the people that have brought these stories to life.
As a charity we have worked hard to create a support and training system that enables new chapters of our work to begin.
I hope that The Skid Row Marathon screenings will inspire you to get in touch and together we can create a legacy after that will help facilitate more runners to get involved and set up TRC programmes in their communities.
