Creating a sustainable future to change lives
On Tuesday 24th November, The Running Charity team was brought together for an inspiring training day around leadership and our strategic priorities. Our trainers, Florence, Maria and Hamid, put the organisation’s largely voluntary team through its paces, helping to develop clear priorities for the benefit of the members we work with.
It was wonderful to bring the whole team together (bar a few that were sorely missed) in one room for the very first time and it highlighted the abundance of skills the staff and volunteers each have to offer. What became apparent early on was a resolute desire and willingness from everyone to help The Running Charity to reach its goals of empowering young people and supporting front line homelessness services across the UK through running and fitness.
The team works remotely across London and now the UK, so to have the charity’s ethos and vision sewn deeply is a testament to the leadership approach of the founders. The aim as a charity is to turn every staff member and volunteer into a leader, taking ownership with the tools provided to transform lives through running and fitness. Our mission is to create a sustainable future to change lives and our promise to members and partners is that we are acting on this now with more passion then ever before in a unified team.
The Running Charity is working on ambitious plans to lay a secure foundation that will help to target its work where it is needed. With the Running Charity close to reaching 16 sessions a week in London and on the verge of launching our first venture outside of the capital in Manchester, its work is about to make an even greater impact on youth homelessness. Now more then ever, volunteers are more able to shape and contribute to the programme and charity as a whole.
The whole team would all like to express a huge thanks to Florence, Maria and Hamid for giving up their time to help them to develop the charity’s work and tackle the obstacles ahead with clarity and renewed vigour.
