Saturday fun at Parkrun
We love Parkrun.
The Running Charity all joined forces bright and early on an August Saturday morning to try out a new Parkrun in Southwark Park. It was the perfect way to kick off our bank holiday. Kane completed his first ever Parkrun without stopping after a little encouragement from Lucy Richards, The Running Charity’s Head of Fundraising. Also, Kevin remembered his barcode achieving a PB of 25.55 minutes.
A few Saturday’s earlier we had been at Highbury Fields, another lovely park. It is here that Montana came 18th on his first ever Parkrun. Think he caught the bug, right there and then.
Not all of the young people who come on our runs are fast, but all of them put in the time and effort that it takes to improve. They are truly inspiring to do a run with.
We are so grateful to be joined on our public runs by our dedicated programme officers, the young people, our amazing mentors, and the staff from some of our brilliant partners – DePaul, New Horizon, and Evolve Housing and Support.
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who give up their time every Saturday morning each week to ensure that Park Run happens.
We will be back down at Highbury Fields Parkrun on the 23rd September…. See you there?!
