Safeguarding at The Running Charity

At The Running Charity, the safety and well-being of the young people we work with is our top priority.

We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for every child, young person, and adult at risk who engages with our programmes. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, from trustees and staff to volunteers and volunteers, and we take this role seriously.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

We believe every young person deserves to:

  • Be protected from harm, abuse, and neglect
  • Be listened to and respected
  • Feel safe and supported to thrive

Our approach to safeguarding includes:

  • Safer recruitment of staff and volunteers
  • Regular safeguarding training for all team members
  • Clear reporting processes and immediate action on concerns
  • Collaboration with statutory services and local safeguarding boards
  • A trauma-informed, empowering culture built on trust and transparency

We follow all relevant UK legislation, including:

  • Children Act 1989 and 2004
  • Care Act 2014
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023
  • Data Protection Act 2018
